Une Soirée Musicale

Pupils from the Music School gave a delightful performance in Monday night’s French concert ‘Une Soirée Musicale’. The concert was a celebration of French music, French poetry, and French composers, with pupils having the additional challenge of introducing their performances in French. They performed French music from classical opera to jazz and rock.

Ensemble highlights included an impressive woodwind ensemble performing music by Delibes, and the Fourth Form string ensemble performing Pavanne by Fauré. The audience were also treated to some of the music of Charles Aznavour and Charles Trenet.

The Music School is extremely grateful to Mr Jaekel for accompanying the evening on the piano, the catering department for providing such a wonderful buffet, and to Mr Norbury and the staff from the French department for all their help, advice, and enthusiasm. A special thanks must go to Lower Sixth pupil Chantelle Duru (School) who compered the evening, in French, with tremendous grace and finesse.

A la prochaine!
