Mr Gifford’s DofE Success

We are very proud to announce that last week, Mr Gifford attended a presentation at Buckingham Palace, London, where he received a Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award from celebrity presenter, Dr Hazel Wallace, after sharing his experiences with HRH Princess Eugenie of York.

Speaking about his DofE experience, Mr Gifford said “The DofE has had an incredible impact on my life, helping me to get jobs, work in teams and push through difficult challenges to achieve my goals. Although I enjoyed taking part in the activities, my favourite part of the award was the expedition because it was a real adventure with my closest friends and we had a great deal of fun overcoming the challenges of an arduous trek together. For my activities I chose Cadet service, drumming and martial arts. I found the cadet service really rewarding and especially enjoyed taking part in parades of remembrance and other community events. I have continued with my Cadet service and am now an Officer with Mill Hill School’s Combined Cadet Force and also run a school martial arts club. The professionalism and confidence I gained in these activities greatly benefited me in life, helping me to find the right job and enjoy life. My experience has inspired me to become a Volunteer with the DofE and I am currently working with Mill Hill School to assist in setting up their own DofE programmes.”
