Preparing delicious nutritious meals for the Community

Last week the final Year 6 Jutes, took part in their volunteering initiative which again was cooking for a homeless shelter with ’Give Together’. This experience was extra special as we had secured a host chef for the day named Silvia who runs “Cooking with the Soul”. She is a top leading Italian chef in the country and this was an amazing opportunity for the children involved. Not only did the children prepare and cook nutritious meals, they actually had a great cooking lesson from Sylvia, who taught them how to peel and chop safely and some other little cooking tips to help them along. The children as you can see from the pictures were fully engaged in what they were preparing and the food was delivered to a food shelter in Kilburn which fed up to 50 people that night.

The experience for the Year 6 pupils has been invaluable and I would once again like to thank Suzie Miller from ‘Give Together’ for all the support she has shown Belmont in helping to organise these opportunities. All pupils in Year 6 have had an opportunity to give something back to the community and I hope this has given them the thirst to continue this next year. They have been a credit to themselves, the school and their families.

Well done Year 6!
