Year 2 went into the woods for Forest School and Mrs Moir challenged the children to see if they could remember what three elements a fire needs to ignite. They had to recreate the fire triangle remembering to include fuel, oxygen and heat. Then we lit a fire and because we used really dry fuel, it lit very quickly and was being blown by the wind. We made links to the Great Fire of London and discussed what helped the fire to spread so quickly.
In the classroom, we wrote our own Kenning poem drawing on our experience of our fire in the woods. The Year 2 classes chose to present their work slightly differently as you can see from the pictures. The children worked very hard and what you can see is a culmination of several lessons leading up to the finished result. Great effort Year 2!
