Today was full of upsets and joy as we started to choose the final team for tournament day. It was tough to pick between so many great players. Once the team was decided upon we started to teach them tactics. Immediately they understood what we were asking them to do and started to play like a solid rugby team. After training, their headmistress gave the whole team a 30 minute pep talk as they all stood around the Zambian flag.
Once we had all returned and washed up we went to a local pub to watch the England Vs Belgium match. Some of us were able to go and explore the shopping mall next door, where we could stock up on Zambian snacks for the tough training days to come. In the end we all had a great night and even sang some songs on the coach on the way back to Mpelembe. Mr Turner’s rendition of Don Mclean’s American Pie went down a real treat…!
