Bridget Riley

Bridget Riley’s work – optical illusion. This is about using lines to make something disappear.

Students drew around one of their hands with a pencil. They then used paintbrushes to draw lines outside the hands. They then filled inside the hands.

Jackson Pollock

The aim of this art session was to experiment with mark making. The students were given large A2 black paper and poster paints, starting with only yellow and white. There were no paintbrushes, just lolly sticks and scratch card sticks. We also used cardboard forks and string. The emphasis was to think of Fireworks. The lesson was very much embodied in the experience over the outcome. Some of the students used their hands to create splats. Others layers the paint and scratched into the surface to create other marks.
