This week, Year One have launched straight into our new topic ‘Shake Rattle and Roll’, relating to all things wheel based transport, machines and mechanics. We started with a question this week, I have wheels…..what am I? We explored various types of wheeled vehicles and machines that use a wheel. We wrote our own ‘wheely riddles’ based on our own pictures from home, evaluated and sorted facts about wheels into true, could be true and false statements based on the history of the wheel. Mrs Burgess our art specialist came in to help create some spectacular mechanical artworks, which focused on blending colour schemes on mechanical shapes. In Maths we have been finding one more and one less, and comparing and ordering numbers on a number line.
