The children were very excited arriving at school on Monday to see the dramatic transformation of our classrooms. There were delighted to see all the changes we had made and they were keen to guess what we would be learning about.
As you now know, our school topic is ‘On the Move’ and our Year 2 focus is ‘High Fliers’. So, we have spent this week looking up at the sky and the clouds. In Science, we have been learning about what clouds are and about the different types of clouds. The children created their own poster detailing the different clouds and their varying shapes.
We have been naming adjectives to describe the sky and creating similes about the sky. The children have also been formulating questions about the sky, which they will display imaginatively as a poem. In Maths, we have been continuing to learn about estimating on a number line using benchmarks and we were estimating and comparing capacities.
Swimming, Belmont Games and Forest School all started again this week for Year 2 and the children absolutely love all being in the woods together.
The Year 2 team have had a wonderful first week back with the children and a lot of effort has gone into their learning this week. Well done everyone!
