On Tuesday, Year 7 and 8 pupils took part in study skills workshops with the company Learning Performance. Year 7 had the theme “Memory Matters” and within this the pupils looked at how the brain worked best and were given effective memory techniques to help them with revision and the day to day learning of large amounts of information in their lessons.
Year 8 pupils had a slightly longer workshop which focused on a few things to help them in preparing for revision and exams. This included lots of discussion and interactive activities about how pupils can manage stress and strategies for the exams themselves (e.g. “what to do if I get stuck?”).
The pupils should have brought their booklets home with them but if they did not, or they missed the session, we have added them to Firefly for parents to download. Tutors will also be referring to these over the course of the next few months to remind pupils of the strategies they can use to help them get the most out of their learning and revision.
