Spanish Debating Competition

Last week Lower Sixth pupils Jacob C (Priestley), Elle P (Murray), Amelia B (Priestley) and Anjum K (Cedars) represented Mill Hill School at the annual Spanish Independent School Debating Competition held at Westminster School. Even though they did not make it to the semis as they came across some stiff competition against St Paul’s boys, our pupils managed to hold their own and lost by only one point. The girls were especially feisty and impressed the judges with their use of complex grammar structures and well researched arguments. All four should be commended as the competition is aimed at Upper Sixth pupils. They gained vital presentation and public speaking skills and became more confident in their linguistic capabilities which will serve them well for their Spanish IRPs. They had a good experience and acquitted themselves very well indeed.
