This week in Reception we have focused on PSHE through our topic by reading The Rainbow Fish. Children thought about how to be a good friend after learning about the rainbow fish sharing his scales, then we created our own scales with adjectives to describe our friends. We have also been looking at sequencing and retelling The Rainbow Fish, thinking about the beginning, middle and end of the story and retelling it in various ways. We have enjoyed making sandcastles together in the beach role play as well, working together to build and decorate. In phonics we have been learning new sounds ‘ear’ and ‘air’, as well as revising previously learnt sounds and tricky words. In maths we have been looking at using positional language to give and receive instructions to and from our friends using a pirates and fish.
REJ did their assembly this week based on ‘Commotion in the Ocean’ by Giles Andrea and David Wojtowycz. They worked really hard on learning their lines and producing a wonderful class poem. Well done REJ!
