On Monday, four pupils in Year 4 took part in an Inter-School Maths Challenge at Aldwickbury School hosted by the excellent Douglas Buchanan; this involved the children taking part in problem solving activities such as ‘Dicey-Dicey’, ‘Tangram’s, ‘Make 24’ and an activity revolving around shopping and how various combinations of coins can be used to purchase items.
The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the day with one pair finishing 14th out of the 54 participating school teams, and the other pair finishing an equally respectable 28th. Miss Desai was extremely impressed with both the enthusiasm and team work skills shown by the young mathematicians, who did particularly well considering their relative inexperience with the maths challenge’s format. Congratulations to Jonah, Katy, Arnav and Anissa for all their hard work.
