Regent’s Park 10k Fundraiser

Forty three Lower Sixth pupils descended on Regent’s Park last Saturday to raise money for the charity, Tag Rugby Trust. All pupils involved have been selected for this year’s Overseas Partnership to Zambia and each were given the task of raising £300. Two 5K laps of the Park was no mean feat but all successfully completed the course and it was great to see the sense of fulfilment on everyone’s faces as they crossed the line.

Notable performances came from Mittio M (School) with an impressive time of 38:27 and placing third overall. Victor R (Weymouth) crossed the line in 43:08 and Alfie C (McClure) in 46:15. Francesca G (Atinson) was the first female across the line in 57:55.

£15,000 has been raised so far and all pupils are to be commended on this fine achievement. The Zambia Partnership with the Tag Rugby Trust is in its twelfth year and has only grown in popularity since the inaugural trip in 2008. This year year two groups will fly out to Zambia. Group A, along with Mr Dickin, Miss Booth, Mr Oakes and Mrs Patel will be flying to Ndola and then onto Vic Falls, whereas Group B, along with Mr Turner, Miss Izzo, Miss Smith and Mr Walters will fly out to Lusaka and onto Livingstone for the second week. We wish all the Lower Sixth pupils involved a safe trip – you have a huge emotional reward heading your way and some fond memories will undoubtedly be instilled for many years to come. Enjoy!
