The Gundry Composition Prize

The annual Gundry Composition Prize provided a glorious evening of entertainment earlier this week. Finalists had the opportunity to have their compositions performed in public whilst the audience were able to follow the score on the main screen.

Audience members were treated to a huge variety of music, with styles ranging from Classical and Romantic pastiche to modern, pop, and free composition.

Adjudicator Richard Bullen, a doctoral graduate of The Royal Academy of Music and celebrated professional composer, had the unenviable task of picking winners in both the junior and senior categories.

Ethan L (McClure) fended off some exceptional compositions to take the junior category prize with a hypnotic piece for solo piano. The highly coveted senior prize was won by Tal G (Ridgeway) with his modern composition for small ensemble.

Huge thanks to all the staff, parents, and pupils who came to support the event.
