After breakfast at the School we all got on our buses and headed to Kodaikanal. A couple hours of mostly napping, brought us to lunch in Madurai at Hotel Germanus, where a selection of non-vegetarian food was welcomed by many. A buffet lunch left us in good stead for the long journey to the hotel, full of twisting roads and monkeys by the road side, with a brief interval for snacks and apple juice.

After taking in the amazing views we eventually reached the Kodai Resort Hotel, built on the site where Overdane once stood, which was built by British settlers. A quick briefing left us free to explore both the hotel and its surroundings. Whilst some stayed to roam around the games rooms and watch the local television, others headed out to the town to hit the shops.

By 8 o’clock we had all gathered by the hotel’s fire pit which provided the perfect atmosphere for a heated game of Uno and Polaroid photos. Dinner was a delicious selection of different curries, veg and rice but the highlight was the arrival of a plate of chips which disappeared in a matter of seconds. With full bellies and sleep on our minds we went back to our rooms, ready for a shower without a bucket and delightfully soft beds.
