Year 7 Bookbuzz

Lucky Year 7 have been enjoying their first visits to the Library this term as part of their English lessons. After a brief induction, they have been browsing this year’s Bookbuzz titles and selecting which they would like to choose from the 16 on offer. Bookbuzz is a programme run by reading charity Booktrust, who work with publishers to subsidise the cost of the scheme. Bookbuzz costs just £3 per student, paid for by the Library, and gives each Year 7 a book to keep forever. The scheme aims to welcome pupils to senior school and encourage them to continue reading for pleasure throughout their teen years.

Once all Y7 pupils have made their choice, the order will be sent and the books should arrive around half term. It will be interesting to see which titles are the most popular – so far mystery thriller Who Killed Darius Drake seems to be in the lead, but this could all change… Watch this space for an update once the books arrive.
