Last week, Fifth Form Geographers ventured east to the hip and trendy area of Hackney Wick and East Village (formerly the Athlete’s village in the Olympic Park) to asses the extent to which there was a sustainable community. Pupils explored the difference between E8 and E20 (the once fictional postcode for EastEnders!) through trailing lots of new data collection techniques, some of which saw them asking local residents their views on the regeneration. Pupils also had the chance to see the velodrome in action, when they witnessed a cyclist setting the pace on the derny bike and got their picture taken under the famous rings.
