This week in PE…

This week the Nursery children had their first session all together in the hall. I was very impressed to see them all following instructions and working as a collective.

Our main focus this half term continues to be learning how to work together. This block of activities includes developing spatial and body awareness, different ways of travelling, and laterality and control through the development and consolidation of the inhibitory stop. For this, we will use different strategies and methods such as stop task games, handling objects and moving in different ways.

They played a game called ‘Silent Statue’. Hoops were placed around the hall and each pupil was in a hoop. The teacher (statue) had to move around the gym and when she went to sleep and was as still as a statue, all children had to try and change places! They had to be very careful because if the teacher woke up, she would try to catch them!
