Day two in New York

On Saturday, we began our day with a big breakfast, preparing us for the many galleries ahead. We then went to Frank Lloyd Wright’s infamous building, The Guggenheim. The exhibition that was on show was filled with a range of artwork, from Frances Bacon’s eerie painting, to Paul Sepuya’s memorable photographs.

Full up from lunch, we visited the Neue Gallery, by Central Park. This gallery was filled with lots of great Austrian and German art and we were lucky enough to see Gustav Klimt’s The Woman in Gold – which was brought to life with a biography of the woman depicted within the picturesque portrait.

For dinner we took Manhattan’s metro to Dumbo, Brooklyn, where we enjoyed Japanese food that filled us up after a very busy day. To end the day on a high, we took a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and soaked up the idyllic view of the New York skyline. After returning to our hotel there was a notion to stay up and watch American tv, but after a jam packed day everyone hit their beds and fell straight asleep.
