This week in Nursery…

What a wonderful week we have had in Nursery. The children started the week excited and enthusiastic about learning the sound ‘s’. They confidently told each other the object they had bought in beginning with that sound and joined in with the song. They then all made a ‘s’ sound card. They used sand and other creative resources to decorate their card independently.

On Tuesday we were exploring colours. The children went on a colour hunt around the playground, they used clipboards and ticked off the colours they found. We also mixed colours, the children mixed coloured tissue paper to make new colours and mixed paint. They observed the changes commenting on the new colours and enjoyed getting very messy.

On Wednesday we carried on investigating what animal may have come into our classroom. This week we looked at foxes. We watched a video that gave us more information and looked in non-fiction books. The children then made foxes using leaf shapes. The children made sure they added the fox’s triangular ears and their whiskers.

Today we had great fun celebrating Chinese New Year. We enjoyed taking part in the Chinese New Year workshop and taking part in lots of activities linked to this in class.
