In Boys’ Games this week…

The Belmont U8 and U9 boys travelled to the St John’s Beaumont Football Festival on Tuesday in very cold conditions but with a sense of real excitement! The day started incredibly well for both teams with wins in their first 5 games! This run did not quite continue for the U8 who worked extremely hard and finished 3rd. The U9’s, however, continued their winning ways all the way to the final where an incredibly tense match was played out against Papplewick. The game ended in a 2-2 draw and the inevitable penalty shootout loomed. Sadly on this occasion, Belmont was not able to get over the finish line but we’re a real credit to the school with outstanding performances all round!

The U13 7’s squad also travelled to Windsor the following day for the annual Rugby 7’s event. The day got off to a positive start with a comprehensive win over Gordon’s. An incredibly physical St John’s Beaumont lowered our confidence before back to back to back wins against The Oratory and Cranmore School. An opportunity to gain revenge over St John’s Beaumont proved a challenge too far but a strong finish against their B team left the boys and coaches on a real high. An outstanding effort by all involved.
