Upper Sixth Artists in Their Studios

The Upper Sixth artists have had a rushed and shocking end to their Art A Level. Exams cancelled, pupils will not get to make their ‘final pieces’ – the hard work they have invested since 1 Feb will unfortunately not materialize in an ambitious outcome. However, pupils are working with integrity on their preparatory work for these projects; their sketchbooks are full of beautiful drawings, photographs and mixed media pieces.

We have pupils experimenting with latex, wax, fire (!), plaster and the creation of rust. We asked them to take a portrait of themselves in their studios, as many famous artists have done before them. It is inspiring and uplifting to see that even in the face of adversity, these artists are working hard to accomplish the very best they can. We hope to hold an exhibition of all their work when things return to ‘normal’ – watch this space!
