A Fond Farewell to Mrs Ellen!

After 22 years at Belmont, Mrs Ellen, PA to the Head, is retiring this half term.

Mrs Ellen has been a key part of the furniture here at Belmont during her time here and she will be missed greatly. Both of her sons were pupils at Belmont and Mill Hill School too!

We spoke to her to reflect on her time at Belmont, and to wish her a very happy retirement.

What will you miss the most about working at Belmont?

I will miss the Belmont community most of all. I will miss the friendships, the camaraderie, and the wonderful day to day life of the school.

What has been your highlight of your time at Belmont?

The Belmont Centenary celebration was a definite highlight for me! We celebrated in Westminster Central Hall with a big service and lots of parties, with Belmontians old and new coming to celebrate with us.

What is your favourite thing about Belmont?

Our amazing grounds! We are very lucky to be situated in such a beautiful environment – my office is rather special too, so I will miss Belmont both outside and in!

Can you describe Belmont in three words?

Unique, caring and happy.

Although we are sad to see you go, what are you most looking forward to about retiring?

I am looking forward to having more time to myself, and I am looking forward to spending more time in my garden and with my grandchildren.

When we can travel normally again my husband and I are also hoping to do some travelling – I’m seeing this as the gap year I never had. We’d like to go to Canada and I really want to go on safari. For the moment we’ll have to keep planning, and hopefully we can go soon!
