This week, Year One received another letter from the Wild Child. She asked us to become woodland animal experts and delivered a book with her letter entitled “Say Hi to Hedgehogs!” by Jane McGuinness. We learned so many interesting facts about hedgehogs and are already well on our way to becoming hedgehog experts! Did you know that baby hedgehogs are called ‘hoglets’ and that they are pink, bald, blind and deaf when they are born? I wonder what other woodland animals we will learn about over the coming days and weeks! In Forest School, we went on an animal hunt and sorted our animals into ‘nocturnal’ and ‘diurnal’ groups. Task Time also provided us with the opportunity to continue our woodland animal learning journey and we filmed ourselves reporting amazing animal facts!
