What a super week Year Two have had! We began the week with some Drama and used the ‘Freeze Frame’ technique to create snapshots of Hansel and Gretel. The children worked in small groups to recreate key moments in the story.
This week, we also learned about the use of speech in the story, and using Seesaw the children added speech and thought bubbles to these key moments. The children used this opportunity to sequence the events of the story thinking about first, next, after and finally.
Our Twilight Forest school session was wonderful. The children really enjoyed seeing the forest in the dark, and it gave the children ideas of how it feels, smells, looks, and sounds in the woods at night. This was the inspiration for their story setting description in English and silhouette making in Art.
Our SMSC (spiritual, moral, social and cultural) focus was learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali, and the children used what they had learnt to create fact files on Seesaw using text, voice recordings and the drawing tools.
