This week in Nursery…

We have had a wonderful week in Nursery. The children have loved learning more about the ducks and seeing how much have they grown since they hatched out of the eggs last week.

On Monday we looked at the sound ‘d’ which linked perfectly to the ducks. We decorated our ‘d’ sound cards with dotty stickers. We also participated in a guided reading session in small groups where we looked at the story ‘That’s not my duck…’ This was a wonderful way of looking at a book together, listening and communicating our feelings and thoughts to our friends.

On Tuesday the children used the ducks as inspiration to paint a picture of a duck for the front cover of their duck diary. Having the real ducks to look at meant that the children really thought carefully about the colours they needed and any extra specific marks they needed to add to their paintings. The children also got to observe the ducks swimming today and how they swim in the water using their wings and webbed feet.

On Wednesday the children looked at the concept of weighing by compare the weight of the ducks to other objects. We looked at how much the ducks weighed compared to snack time bear, Benji Bear and the multilink bricks.

On Thursday the ducks left Nursery, the children were sad to say goodbye however, we have loved looking after them and learning all about them.

Today the children got to experience the wonder of a fire in Forest School. The children went on an egg hunt and then made fire pizzas. They were yummy!!
