This Week in Reception!

Welcome back Reception to the second half of the Summer Term. We have had so much fun during this busy week in Reception. It was wonderful to hear about the children’s week off school, finally seeing friends and family and enjoying the beautiful weather. Thank you to many families who have uploaded pictures of your holiday adventures, we love sharing your pictures within our classrooms.

This week the focus in Circle Time has been ‘friendships’ and how to be a good friend. As a class, we discussed what makes our friends so special and what they do to make us happy. In honour of being a good friend, the children baked cupcakes for a special friend and also decorated them. They thought carefully about what colour sprinkles and bun case their friend would like best. It has been wonderful to see the children make cards and friendship bracelets during COOL time and give these on to their special friends.

The children were thrilled to use their tea bowls for our ‘Marvellous Middle’ during our Japanese Tea Ceremony!  We had a wonderful afternoon in St Bee’s flower garden drinking green tea, talking to our friends and listening to Japanese music. During the tea ceremony, the children made ‘Pocky sticks’, similar to the biscuit Mikado. They dipped a long breadstick into the chocolate sauce and added sprinkles. They were delicious!
