In our penultimate week of term, we finished our core text ‘The Great Wave’ by looking at the importance of the Koi Carp and the qualities they symbolise. We discussed what animals are important in the children’s culture, and the children chose an animal that could symbolise them to draw/write about.
The children also identified the key parts of its body and explained their functions. We learnt about the different groups of plants and animals and where the Koi Carp fits into their classification. We also had our transition afternoon at Belmont.
We did DT, went to the library and dismissed from top crossing. The children moving on to new schools ‘hung out’ with Mrs Ticehurst and Holly and spent time reminiscing about Grimsdell and looking forward to their new starts.
