Mill Hill Take Part in Penguin Books’ #LitinColour Scheme

Just before half term the English Department hosted a book borrowing event for the #LitinColour scheme run by the Penguin Books and Pearson scheme aims to increase students access to books by writers of colour.

The aim of Lit in Colour is to support schools in the UK to make the teaching and learning of English literature more inclusive. This includes commissioning research to better understand barriers and possible solutions, as well as providing practical support including book donations, free teaching resources and more.

There was an amazing selection of 300 books on offer by Black, Asian and minority ethnic writers at our book borrowing event, from novels to poetry collections and nonfiction.

Pupils and staff chose books and made a pledge to read them over half term.
