Our Mill Hill Community: Meet Our Staff

This term we are delighted to welcome Mr Huddleston to Mill Hill as the Director of Studies, working as part of the school’s Senior Leadership Team.

We spoke to Mr Huddleston to find out a bit more about him and his first impressions of Mill Hill!

What does the role of ‘Director of Studies’ entail?

‘My main focus will be to support the development of the school’s curriculum in terms of its intent, implementation and impact. I hope that this will entail working with a wide variety of colleagues across The Foundation.’

What were you doing before you joined us here at Mill Hill?

‘I was Deputy Headteacher for seven years at a Hertfordshire secondary school, where I was responsible for leading the curriculum and the operational management of the whole school.

Within the role I worked with other organisations to carry out school to school peer reviews and to deliver training on leadership, curriculum and teaching and learning locally, regionally and nationally.’

What have been your first impressions of the school since joining?

I have had an incredibly positive first few days. I have felt very warmly welcomed by everyone I have met and feel this is a fantastic and well-resourced school. I feel like I am in a school that wants all of its pupils to thrive!’

What are you most looking forward to about working at Mill Hill?

‘I really want to help move the school even further forward academically and pastorally, and I am excited to work with everyone in the Common Room to achieve this.

I love how the school prides itself on the holistic development of its pupils, so they can enjoy personal, social and academic success.’

And finally, can you tell us something we might not know about you?

‘I have two very contrasting guilty pleasures – I captain one of the men’s teams at Southgate Hockey Club, and regularly enjoy table-top board-gaming, though obviously not at the same time!’
