This week in Nursery…

What a wonderfully busy Book Week! The children have loved taking part in all the different activities.

We started off the week with a wonderful visit from the author Peter Bently. He read us some of the stories he has written and told us all about what it is like to be an author. We also played a game linked to the characters in his story.

Tuesday was Pancake Day!! All the children took part in a pancake race and the whole school were really impressed with how the children confidently ran in front of many adults. As a special treat they got to have yummy pancakes as part of their snack which was enjoyed by everyone.

This week’s Show and Tell was amazing. You could see the children had confidently chosen their favourite book as they all spoke in great detail about the book and why they loved it. It was wonderful to see that every family in our school appreciates the importance of books and that love is shone through onto the children.

The children also did some buddy reading with a Reception class this week. They loved sharing books and getting to know some of the big children and it was lovely to see some new friendships blossom.

Throughout this week we haven’t forgotten about Stickman, he left us a postcard in Forest School last week and is now in Australia. We have been exploring some of the animals in Australia as well as some of the wonderful objects linked to Australia. The children looked at a digeridoos and boomerangs and then created their own.

Dress up Day on Thursday was a huge success! The children loved dressing up and showing off their outfits to each other. We had a cute little catwalk in the classroom where the children talked about what book they were from.

Today was another wonderful Forest Funday Friday. The children took part in a dance workshop linked to the Three Little Pigs just before Forest School and  then went to explore the forest. This week they searched for Superworm from the wonderful story by Julia Donaldson.

Wow what a busy week!
