Girls Rugby Team Win Their First Fixture!

On Thursday 24th March, Mill Hill hosted its inaugural Girls Rugby Match against Saracens High School. The team was led by Ella (Remove, Priestley), who is Mill Hill School’s first female captain.

Over the past six months, the Girls Rugby team have been training hard and developing their rugby skills to prepare for matches. They relished the opportunity to put everything they had learnt into practice in the game. Saracens High School scored the first try, which settled the initial nerves of the girls. Our team then displayed their athleticism with a flurry of line breaks which converted into a number of tries.

Coach Ms Lancaster describes the team and event below:

“I am extremely proud of the pupils involved in the Girls Rugby team. They have wanted this physical challenge for some time now and they have shown everyone how fun and exciting girls’ rugby is. They are history-makers and many will remember this for years to come!”

This was the first girls’ rugby fixture in Mill Hill School’s history and the game attracted a lot of attention. It was fantastic to see a mix of staff, pupils, parents and Old Millhillians come to support our girls from the sidelines. Ultimately, Mill Hill School came away with a thrilling 45-30 win against Saracens High School. A massive well done to both teams and thank you to all of the staff who made this spectacular event possible.

Building on the success of this game, we hope to continue growing the team and competing in more girls’ rugby fixtures in the future.
