Kids MBA – Superb Pitches Presented by Pupils

Belmont Kids MBA is an opportunity for pupils to develop a commercial mindset and also learn important skills which will serve them well in the world of work. These include many soft skills such as teamwork and presentation skills, but also ‘hard skills’ such as planning, budgeting and ideation.

After many weeks of revision and taking exams, on Tuesday, our Year 8 pupils took part in Belmont’s first KidsMBA Shark Tank (Dragon’s Den style) event.  Over the course of four days, in teams of 3-4, pupils focused on creating a business concept using all the knowledge and skills gained from the KidsMBA which they have taken part in as part of the Future Skills curriculum this year.

All the ideas and pitches were outstanding. Pupils successfully displayed an excellent understanding of entrepreneurship and the processes involved in setting up a business. All the Year 8 pupils have been awarded a KidsMBA Certificate of Achievement which is endorsed by ABE, an internationally recognised awarding organisation and business skills specialist.

We are very proud of every pupil who took part, but a particular congratulations is owed to the winners Melissa, Chloe, Vera and Evie who created the product ‘Mechapen’. A sustainable and innovative stationary product which combines a pen and pencil – ‘2 in 1, get your work done’. The ‘Mechapen’ team presented their ideas articulately, with great enthusiasm and a with strong business acumen.

As winners of Belmont’s KidsMBA, they will have the opportunity to go through to the global Future Entrepreneur of the Year Competition with finalists from around the world. The winners will be announced in July and we wish the girls the best of luck!

Well done to all our Year 8 pupils and thank you to our fantastic Judges Mr Roberts (Head, Belmont) and Mr Baker (Head of Year 7, Belmont)!
