New Fourth Form Induction Day!

This week we welcomed incoming Fourth Form pupils to Mill Hill School for a ‘New Fourth Form Induction Day’. This was the perfect opportunity for the pupils who will be joining us in Fourth Form from September 2022 to build relationships with their peers and Mill Hill School teachers whilst getting a flavour of life at senior school.

During the day, pupils attended a House talk, where they had the opportunity to meet their new Housemaster or Housemistress and their new Housemates. They also met other pastoral and academic staff such as senior tutors and Mr Selvaraj (Transition, Induction and Mentoring Coordinator). The pupils were able to ask questions about Mill Hill School and begin building a rapport with staff and fellow pupils alike.

The incoming Fourth Form also attended a chapel service. Our School Reverend, Antony Wilson, talked to the pupils about the importance of chapel services at Mill Hill School. He explained that the Chapel is a wonderful place for pupils to go for support when they have concerns about things at school or home. Mr Kyle (Director of Musical Performance) also led a hymn singing session. It was wonderful to hear our pupils singing together in the chapel. The pupils were also able to meet key members of the Senior Leadership Team including Mrs Sanchez (Head), Mr Dickin (Deputy Head – Pastoral) and Ms Boyle (Assistant Head – Pupil Development and Wellbeing).

Our Lower Sixth pupils and staff organised an activities session for the pupils. This included CCF and music sessions, sports fixtures and drama activities. In the CCF sessions, they learnt about the importance of teamwork by completing trust exercises and challenges set by the Lower Sixth. Staff members were incredibly impressed by the enthusiasm, leadership and organisation displayed by the Lower Sixth pupils.

During the activity sessions, it was a pleasure to see the new Fourth Form pupils working together and creating friendships ahead of joining the school in September.

Toward the end of the day, new Fourth Form pupils received a tour around the school grounds from Lower Sixth pupils, so that they could familiarise themselves with the buildings and know where they will eat lunch, attend lessons, and participate in activities.

The New Fourth Form Induction Day helps to make the transition from prep school to senior school as smooth as possible for our pupils. It helps our pupils to feel more comfortable and relaxed on their first day in September, as they know what to expect.

To round off the day, parents were welcomed to the school for tea and canapes on Top Terrace and were joined by their children.

All our staff and pupils were delighted to welcome the new pupils and parents into our Mill Hill School Community. Thank you to everyone who helped to organise this event.
