This week in Literacy the children find a letter from a mermaid called Freya a character from the book, ‘Can You Catch a Mermaid’ by Jane Ray. The children read the book and looked at how friendship between Freya and Eliza, a daughter of a fisherman, develop over time. Cross linked with this week’s PSHEE lesson, the children learnt what makes a good friend and the children worked in pairs to act out a freeze frame by introducing themselves to each other and talk about their interests to make a new friend.
In our handwriting sessions, the children have been consolidating the correct letters formation of the cursive script.
In Maths this week, we have been revising magnitude of numbers and comparing numbers accurately. The children focused on vocabulary of equal, more, fewer, and less than to compare amounts through practical activities and then the children were introduced to inequality using the <, > and = symbols.
