Year 2 immediately stepped into a rich, cultural and vibrant journey to India and experienced an incredible stunning start! We found a crate on the front lawn. The children wondered who it was for and why it was at our school! It was covered in stickers from different countries and also ones telling us to handle the box with care. We had a discussion about the crate and filled in a collecting sheet of ideas. The children all speculated about what could be inside the crate.
Before we opened the crate, the children had some important questions to ask:
When we opened the crate later, we discovered 3 tiger cubs inside! We were amazed and that started a conversation about why they were at our school. We decided that each classroom should look after one cub and discussed that we need to find out about Tigers. So we used Purple Mash to draft an email to a tiger expert – have a look on Seesaw for the children’s emails.
Tom the Tiger expert replied with this email and so we continued our research into Tigers, but first we need to establish rules for the tigers and designed some rules posters.
