On Saturday, 24 September, our Mill Hill community came together for Foundation Day.
In the morning, our Service for Commemoration of Benefactors took place in the School Chapel. We were blown away by the beautiful singing from the Choir and congregation. Afterwards, Prize Giving and Speeches were held in the Sports Hall. Mrs Sanchez gave an informative and engaging speech in which she outlined recent events and activities at Mill Hill. This reminded our audience of the transformative effects of a Mill Hill education.
Our Guest of Honour was Old Millhillian Nigel Wray. Nigel has enjoyed a highly successful career as an investor and entrepreneur. He gave a magnificent speech highlighting the importance of positivity and how lucky we are to be a part of the Mill Hill community. He advised our pupils to find their passion, care deeply about others and embrace making mistakes.
Nigel awarded our pupils with Prizes and Scholarships, and it was fantastic to celebrate their achievements. Finally, our Senior Monitors thanked Nigel for his inspirational talk. The Senior Monitors spoke about our schools’ focus on integrity, diversity and pupil voice. We were impressed with their presentation skills and hope they are proud of themselves. Following on from the Prize Giving, a delicious BBQ lunch was served. A naming ceremony also took place in which New House was officially Renamed Macgregor House. Click here to read about this.
We also enjoyed a presentation by the CCF Corps of Drums. This was followed by an impressive rugby match against St. George’s, Harpenden, which resulted in a draw of 15-15. Our hockey team had a magnificent game against Forest School, winning 4-0.
Mrs Sanchez, was extremely pleased with Foundation Day, saying that it was, “a particularly special occasion and set the stage for a perfect day that brought the Mill Hill community together.” It was lovely to welcome pupils, staff, Old Millhillians and other special guests to the school for such a special occasion and we look forward to next year’s Foundation Day.
