This half term saw the return of Inter-House debating. In the first round all thirteen House teams took part in a series of debates ranging from whether UK Schools should still have uniform to whether digital technology is making children’s lives better. The quality of debate between many of these houses was incredibly high and only the top scoring eight teams will make it through to the second round starting after half term. It was lovely to see how well pupils had engaged with this addition to the Inter-House competition and how many of them enjoyed both the act of debating but also the opportunity for the spontaneous creative and critical thinking that it offers. Pictured are the Murray House team with their summary speaker, Jacob J, in full flow opposing the motion ‘This House believe that voting should be made compulsory in the UK.’
