Jewish New Year

This half term Mill Hill celebrated the Jewish New Year in Chapel with a service written and delivered by a group of our Jewish pupils in the Lower Sixth. The pupils explained both the practices and significance of the festival as well as provided an opportunity for reflection on what we could all learn from this celebration whether we are of any faith or none. Central to this was how we could all try to work together to make our New Year at school the best one ever as well as look to improve ourselves and our shared community. This hope for a ‘sweet and fruitful’ New Year was not only a key aspect of the pupils Chapel Service but also echoed in the traditional Rosh Hashanah offering of apples and honey that was enjoyed by all the pupils and staff at the end of the service.
