On Friday last week Anya (5JD) was invited to play in the Year 5 Rugby Triangular Tournament against Berkhamsted and Chesham Prep. Anya, who plays Rugby at Finchley RFC, has been training with the boys on a Monday evening and has always had her sights set on representing the school in the sport she loves the most, Rugby Union.
Anya has worked incredibly hard and has waited patiently for the right time to play her first game of school Rugby. She made Belmont history, being the first girl to represent the School at a competitive Year 5 match and we hope she continues to pave the way for other Belmontians wanting to follow their dreams.
Anya, like the England Women Rugby players in both codes of the game, should be very proud of what she has accomplished this season.
We are also proud of Anya’s team mates on the Year 5 Rugby team who have supported and encouraged her every step of the way. All of them have stepped outside their comfort zones this season, and have fully embraced our values – Be Kind, Be Brave, Be You.
