Belmont Twinned with Pompeii

During Activities Week, a group of Belmont’s very own centurions explored the ancient art-form of mosaics.

The mosaics were created using glass tesserae, which in Latin means “cube” or “die.”

Each individual piece of tesserae was carefully cut, shaped, glued and placed, which was a time consuming and back breaking process!

The mosaics are now installed in the Quad where they will look stunning in all weathers.

The Art Department would like to thank all the legions involved in this project.
