Meet Ms Staniford

Meet Ms Lorraine Staniford, Forest School Coordinator and Nursery Nurse at Grimsdell Pre-Prep. We had the pleasure of speaking to her and finding out about her role!

How long have you worked at Grimsdell Pre-Prep?

I have worked at Grimsdell Pre-Prep for 18 years!

What does your role involve?

I have always worked in the Early Years as a Nursery Nurse. Ten years ago, I qualified as a Forest School Practitioner and began leading Forest School sessions. I am now the Forest School Coordinator for Grimsdell Pre-Prep. I am also a Stay and Play Leader and look after children in the after-school provisions a few days a week. My role allows me to spend time with pupils in beautiful surroundings, which is lovely.

What is your favourite thing at Grimsdell Pre-Prep?

I have very special memories of playing on the school grounds as a child. My best friend’s father was a science teacher at Mill Hill School so we regularly rode our bikes around the grounds and went swimming in the outdoor pool. I feel fortunate to still be able to enjoy the school’s special grounds today.

I also love being in Forest School with the children. Our pupils are curious and inquisitive about wildlife which is fantastic, especially because nature is a huge passion of mine. Another great part of my role is supporting the children in the outdoor cabin as they tinker with tools, wood, and nails in the woodwork area.

Do you have any advice for our pupils which could help them to get the most out of their time at Grimsdell Pre-Prep?

My advice for pupils would be to do your best to be your best, and follow the Grimsdell way!

What is your favourite film and why?

My favourite film is The Greatest Showman because it celebrates humanity and shows us that it is ok to be different.

Could you share an inspirational quote with us? How does it inspire you?

“The greatest adventure is what lies ahead.” by J. R. R. Tolkien. I love this quote because it makes me feel excited about the future

Can you tell us something that we might not know about you?

I am a grandma and I have five wonderful grandchildren. Fay, Teddie, Ellie, Grayson and Ivy.

We loved chatting with Ms Staniford and learning more about her.
