We loved starting our week with a special day to celebrate the wonderful topic of India. We dressed up in our sari’s and colours of the Indian flag and walked around the school taking part in so many fantastic activities. We had a dance workshop where we learnt a routine in the style of Bollywood dancing, we were so impressed with how the children were able to follow the dance teacher. We also took part in a drumming workshop where we played different traditional drums. We enjoyed a mindfulness experience where we scrunched up paper and threw away the anger as well as breathing on fans to make them go round with a gentle breath. The pod was turned into a sensory experience where we were able to take part in a relaxation session using our senses. We also loved having many grownups in to enjoy some sessions with us and leading activities in the music room and crafts in the classroom.
This week in the classroom we have explored Indian landmarks and different foods. We made watercolour Taj Mahals, built using different materials and celebrated what we enjoyed for India day. We also learnt about different foods and tasted Chapatti’s after reading the story ‘The Runaway Chapatti’. We thought about words that describe how it tasted and used our sounds to write them down. Thank you to Mrs Bhudia’s Mother-in-law for cooking our children lovely Chapatti’s!
In Maths we have continued to learn about pattern and enjoyed printing on fabrics and creating our own patterns and rules. We have worked in pairs to make our own patterns and shared them with the rest of the class.
