This week in Maths, the children have been learning to count on from a given number and finding out how many more have been counted. They looked at exploring 5 by using multilink cubes to make a different representation of 5 and using this pattern to record number sentences to describe what pattern they see. This led to the ‘think 5’ strategy to make 5 and some more using the tens frame grid and part-whole models.
In Science, the children have continued to learn to identify and name common animals such as fish and amphibians. The children worked in groups to sort the animals and compared the similarities and differences between them. Finally, they recalled all the animal groups from previous science lessons and reinforced their learning.
