Drama Rehearsals and Updates

In Drama, pupils have been working tirelessly towards several productions in the Spring Term, which promises to be a veritable feast of theatrical offering. GCSE and A-Level Drama classes have begun work on their Scripted and Devised performances, which will make up crucial elements of their respective qualifications, and be performed in front of audiences in March.

Rehearsals have also geared up for the Whole School Musical, Margaret’s Mind, which premieres in February. The 60-strong cast have thrown themselves into the challenge of learning never-before-heard songs, as well as a wealth of choreography that includes street dance, waltz, and contemporary, and ballet. It promises to be a spectacular event, with tickets available to reserve soon.

Meanwhile, pupils have also been making the most of what London’s theatrical scene has to offer. A Level classes got the chance to see renowned playwright Martin Crimp perform in his new play, Not One of These People, at the Royal Court Theatre, which used deep-fake computer technology to bring 299 unique characters to the stage. Pupils from across all year groups then enjoyed a trip to the Wembley Park Theatre for the immersive production of Newsies – the musical’s London premiere that rose spirits with uplifting musical numbers and breath-taking dance sequences.
