Eco Society welcomes Beekeeper to Mill Hill!

On Thursday 8 December, 30 members of the Eco Society were excited to welcome our Beekeeper to the School, and watch him demonstrate how to extract honey from the honeycombs. With six hives across the Foundation, it is exciting to have the knowledge of how to extract the honey produced by the bees; the honeycomb frames are spun at high speed and centrifugal forces remove the honey from them without destroying their shape.

The Beekeeper spoke about the importance of bees for the planet and the food we eat and explained why mature trees needed to be protected to enable wild bees to thrive. More information about protecting and rescuing bees can be found here: http://treebeerescue.org/.
