On 22 November, we were delighted (and chilled) to welcome actor Ruper Mason from Redheart Theatre as he performed his one-man show, Gothic Tales. Pupils in the Fourth Form are currently studying Gothic Writing as part of the English curriculum, so to support this Mr Mason performed Edgar Allan Poe’s masterpiece, The Tell-Tale Heart, followed by the haunted room mystery, The Red Room, by H.G. Wells. Utilising a richly atmospheric set in our pitch-black theatre along with some carefully constructed stage magic, Mr Mason took us on his characters’ journeys and provided us with a jump and scare or two along the way.
