In previous years, Year 9 pupils could only access Religious Studies as part of a programme that was tailored to give the pupils a taste of a number of subjects in the area of Humanities. This year it has been introduced to the Year 9 curriculum at MHI as a separate subject and has been quite popular among the pupils. This term they have focused on Ethics, Religious and Secular beliefs and Moral Dilemmas, and have looked at a number of controversial themes including abortion and euthanasia. In one of their lessons this week they were discussing the existence of evil and how this can be explained. At the end of the class one of the pupils volunteered to explain the concept of theodicy to the class. Well done, Year 9!
