It has been lovely to greet the children back to school after the break.
This week we have been focusing on pitch recognition and the pulse. The children tried to guess the song from hearing the tune without the lyrics and looked at different ways to mark the pulse on their bodies. There were some very inventive ideas and we were even instructed by one child to mark the pulse using press-ups! We then took this further and composed pulse patterns, some patterns were made up of 2 different actions and some challenged themselves with a pattern of 4 different actions! The children worked in pairs to create a pulse pattern and performed these to the class. I enjoyed seeing how varied and creative the children’s ideas were and how they were able to stay in time whilst singing at the same time.
