This week in Nursery…

What a wonderful week in Nursery.

On Monday the children enjoyed learning their new sound and action ‘p’. They decorated their sound card with purple and pink paint.

We also had a go at playing ‘I spy’ on Monday. The children all had a piece of paper with objects linked to the sounds we have learnt so far on. They then had to say ‘I spy with my little eye something that starts with the sound….’ The children enjoyed the game and some were even given the challenge of blending sounds together to make words.

On Tuesday we explored potatoes. This was not on my original plan for the week however, the children were incredibly intrigued and excited about touching a potato brought in for the sound shelf so I couldn’t help but follow that interest. The children all had a go at peeling the potatoes, we then boiled them and mashed them.  I was impressed with how many children then had a go at tasting them. J

On Wednesday and Thursday we talked about Valentine’s Day, we discussed why we celebrate this day and how many people we love around us. The children used transient art or paint to create a piece of art that we used for a card, they then told us who this special card was going to be for.

Today was our last Funday Friday in the classroom because after half term we will be having forest school. The children created their own fairy using peg dolls. They gave them wings, a name and then went into detail about what makes their fairy special.
